As of March 31st Salmon Arm Economic Development by way of the Targeted Industry Attraction strategy hits a ‘triple play’ for the City of Salmon Arm:
Investment and Job Creation Manufacturing Alternative ‘Green’ Power
The SAED started working with stakeholders from Alberta in mid January of this year, and after two and a half months on researching various BC communities ADAM Integrated Industries Inc. can officially call the Salmon Arm Industrial Park its home.
ADAM, an acronym for Advanced Design and Manufacturing, is a company that will consolidate three internal divisions with start-up inked at July 1, 2006. These divisions will be introduced in a phased approach and will operate in a new to-be-built 28,000 square foot building in the industrial park while creating employment for up to 20 people.
ADAM’s immediate focus will be on contract manufacturing; it has numerous well established customers which include Westward Parts, a company recognized as one of North America’s largest agricultural parts distributor. A heavy investment in laser cutting technology will provide many opportunities to enhance service for both an existing and new customer base.
ADAM consulting will apply over 30 years of professional and accredited industry experience to assist both established and new clients with prototype development, and product and process design services.
In addition to its manufacturing and consulting revenue models, ADAM will phase in its OpenEnergy product lines. Since there is a growing acceptance and desire on the part of consumers to use alternative energy sources, ADAM has strategically acquired the North American rights to products such as BioGem. With utility infrastructures becoming over-loaded, and environmental challenges for traditional energy transmission becoming greater, ADAM believes a distribution generation system similar to European models is inevitable.
In closing, SAEDS asked why Salmon Arm? Margaret McMaster, a stakeholder in ADAM responded, "We were able to verify for ourselves that all the rave reviews were actually true! We were impressed both by the obvious spirit of cooperation fostered by the EDS staff and the City, and the specific, concrete support they have provided."
SAED in conjunction with the City of Salmon Arm has been able to attract three manufacturing companies in nine months since June of 2005.
