In September 2003 the Salmon Arm Economic Development Society conducted a manufacturing skills gap analysis in the Shuswap. The main purpose of the study was to provide an analysis of the human resource supply and demand in the manufacturing industry and, at the same time, obtain a clearer picture of the skill sets needed now and in the future for the workforce in the manufacturing industry.
Employment Wage Subsidy
The goal of a targeted wage subsidy is to facilitate the hiring of unemployed individuals into long-term employment by providing assistance with job experience, job orientation and on-the-job training and wage subsidy, e.g. 25-50% of the hourly wage for up to 6-8 months.
